Learn how LandIT partnered with the NSW Reconstruction Authority to implement the Resilient Land Program as part of the northern rivers flood recovery effort.

“LandIT made a valuable contribution to the success of the Resilient Land Program (RLP) and the Reconstruction Authority (RA) projects. Their commercial expertise led to value-for- money and fit-for-purpose land acquisitions across various sites. This was essential in delivering new housing for flood-impacted residents. LandIT’s impact was both quantitative, driving significant outcomes, and qualitative. Whilst a great team fit, LandIT made a valuable contribution to the team culture, as well as established a solid rapport with key internal and external stakeholders. Their work ensured
rapid delivery of flood-free housing in the Northern Rivers, prioritising affected residents. Without LandIT’s involvement, many residents might have had to leave the region to find suitable housing. I highly recommend LandIT as a collaborative and effective partner.”

Situation

The Northern Rivers region of NSW was severely affected by the March 2021 floods, which displaced many residents and damaged their properties.

Task

The NSW RA was tasked with leading the recovery and reconstruction efforts in the region, and established the Resilient Land Program to provide safe, affordable and sustainable housing options for flood-impacted residents.

Actions

The NSW RA engaged LandIT to provide real estate and commercial services to support the implementation of the Resilient Land Program. LandIT was responsible for facilitating negotiations, conducting due diligence and feasibility studies, providing advice on agreements, stakeholder engagement, providing ad hoc real estate and commercial advice, developing site investment proposals.

Results

LandIT has been an integral part of the ongoing Resilient Lands Program. This has resulted in two recent major housing announcements to support flood affected residents comprising, 400 dwellings in East Lismore and 50 dwellings at Goonellabah.
